As 2025 begins, NMT Crane Hire is hitting the ground running with the addition of two state-of-the-art DAF XG vehicles to its fleet.

This investment marks the continuation of a focused effort to modernise and expand NMT’s operations, ensuring our business meets the growing demands of clients.

The purchase, made through longstanding partners Brian Currie of Milton Keynes, reinforces a relationship built over years of trust and quality service.

Since 1977, the Brian Currie name has been synonymous with excellence in the haulage industry, and NMT is proud to return to them once again for this important upgrade.

Brian Currie, the namesake of the Milton Keynes-based haulage provider, commented on the ongoing collaboration.

He said: “Working with NMT Crane Hire has always been a pleasure. Their commitment to investing in top vehicles speaks volumes about the quality of service they deliver to their clients. We’re proud to supply them with these DAF XGs, which are among the best on the market today.”

The new DAF XG models are built for efficiency, comfort, and reliability – key attributes for the demanding haulage requirements of NMT Crane Hire. Features include:

  • State-of-the-Art Cab Design: ensuring our drivers are safe and comfortable
  • Advanced Safety Systems: Equipped with technologies such as lane-keeping assist, predictive cruise control, and advanced emergency braking systems.
  • Fuel Efficiency: The XG series boasts next-generation engines designed to reduce emissions and fuel consumption without compromising performance.
  • Payload Capacity: Exceptional load-bearing capabilities make these vehicles ideal for heavy-duty operations like crane hire logistics.

NMT Crane Hire tackles Storm Darragh’s aftermath

When Storm Darragh swept across the UK, it left a trail of damage in its wake, and a woodland area in Woburn Sands was no exception.
Responding to the call, NMT Crane Hire deployed our versatile Terex Demag 40 Tonne Crane to handle a complex operation involving the removal of a large fallen tree that posed a hazard to the surrounding area.
Like many lifts, we make it look easy as we’ve been doing this for decades. But the reality was that the task wasn’t as simple as removing the tree.
To ensure the safety of everyone involved, a skilled tree surgeon was suspended by our crane to safely cut and manage the fallen tree before removal could proceed. This step was crucial to minimise risks and prepare the site for the second phase of the operation.
Once the tree was sectioned, the Terex Demag 40 Tonne Crane stepped in for the heavy lifting.
With its precision handling and versatile lifting capabilities, our team efficiently removed the large sections of the tree, clearing the area while maintaining the highest safety standards.
Safety was our top priority throughout the operation.

For over 12 months, NMT Crane Hire has been at the heart of a complex silo dismantling project for a valued client.

Using the versatile Spierings SK1265-AT6, the team has worked tirelessly to execute safe, accurate lifts as part of the mill’s systematic deconstruction.

The project involves lifting engineering teams in man baskets to carefully unbolt silo sections, ensuring every lift is performed with zero margin for error.

We then take each section of the silo down with our team delivering the heavy lifting.

Supervisor Adam Potts highlights the importance of teamwork.

He said: “This job is all about precision and collaboration. Every detail matters, and our crew are committed to delivering results for our client.

“It’s work that is repetitive but this is lifting and demolition and our team’s concentration and delivery has never wavered. We’re getting through the work and doing it well.”

Gerry White, Director at NMT Cranes, reflects on the project’s duration and significance: “Being on this job for over a year is a testament to the trust our client places in us. Managing a project of this scale requires expertise and consistency, and I’m proud of how the team continues to meet and exceed expectations, always prioritising safety.”
