NMT Crane Hire was established in 1976 and celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2016.
Founded by Nick, Mark, and Tim Ambridge (hence, NMT), the company was originally set up as a recovery company based in Bedford. The use of cranes within that company soon encouraged the brothers to purchase further machines and the growth of NMT began.
At NMT, we hire only professional people, with a healthy balance of youth and experience amongst our ever-expanding team. Working only to the highest of standards, we bring in more than 40 years of experience to every project we undertake, ensuring we not only meet but also exceed our customers’ expectations.
In order to meet our customers’ rapidly changing business requirements, we continually invest in the latest technology. In recent years NMT has built up an impressive fleet of All Terrain Mobile Cranes. In fact, the company has invested over £15 million in the last 5 years alone in crane hire and haulage hire in the UK.

We have experience working on various projects for film and television, as well as numerous high-level projects within the construction sector. We provide a full fleet allowing us to complete the work from start to finish, eliminating the need for more than one company to be involved.
Our Fleet
NMT continues to invest in new technology, with new machines arriving to join our existing crane hire fleet all the time. Our most notable recent addition is undoubtedly the Terex AC700; this new 700-ton-rated crane has a 60-metre telescopic boom, which can be carried on the crane making it the largest, most compact, roadable crane in its class. Also, NMT had one of the first Spierings 7 axle mobile tower cranes, as well as the first Terex AC100/4L 100 ton, 4 axle machine with 60-metre telescopic boom in the UK. We also have 3 of the new Terex Challengers on 3 axles, with an incredible 50 metres of telescopic boom. NMT also purchased the first Explorer 5800 220 ton crane in the World. As you can probably tell, our fleet is one of the most comprehensive in the country.
